Requirements
- Two years experience doing administrative research that included compiling and evaluating facts to recommend management action, or decide eligibility or compliance with program guidelines and regulations.
- Note: college-level course work may substitute for the experience on the basis of 45-quarter units per year of experience.
Responsibilities
- Review vehicle compliance and accident reporting.
- Review training approval requests.
- Conduct site visit reviews at school bus operations statewide.
- Represent ODE in the contested case hearing process for fingerprinting, school bus drivers, activity drivers, and behind-the-wheel trainers.
- Coordinate the annual Core Instructor Training and Certification Program and assist in presenting aspects of other training programs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in school bus transportation industry, preferably within Oregon.
- Ability to conduct hands-on vehicle inspections.
- Current CDL with Passenger & School Bus endorsements, School bus driver certificate with BTW & Third Party Examiner certificates, Core Instructor certificate, and ODE Inspector certificate.
- Excellent customer service skills in person, by phone, text message, and email.
- Ability to conduct presentations and group training to diverse audiences.
- Familiarity with regulatory and program-specific manuals, materials, and Oregon statute and rule regarding pupil transportation & fingerprinting.
- Ability to obtain CJIS & LEDS system clearances and pass tests for approval by Oregon State Police.
- Ability to pass fingerprinting background screen requirements.
- Ability to pass federal DOT drug testing requirements with no disqualifying history in national clearinghouse records.
