Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related field
- 8 years experience in a construction work environment
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use and application of County Code and Policy, Safety Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, AASHTO, and other applicable reference manuals
- Ability to read construction plans and provide infrastructure management support
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to efficiently and concisely verbally communicate
- Ability to effectively present information to management and public groups
- Ability to apply standard mathematical operations and calculations
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables
- Candidate must pass a background check prior to employment start date
- Candidate must pass a substance use screening prior to employment start date
- Valid Colorado driver’s license upon hire
- OSHA 511 Standards for General Industry (Safety Certification)
Responsibilities
- Create and facilitate new employee training program
- Create annual training refresher courses
- Lead all accident investigations throughout the Department of Public Works
- Provide heavy equipment operator training when necessary
- Provide post-accident or near miss training and documentation
- Provide training on proper equipment, truck and vehicle operating techniques
- Provide trainings in adherence to regulations on safety, health, FMCSA regulations, MSHA regulations, and environment
- Lead Public Works Annual Safety Day
- Collaboration with Weld County Human Resources Risk Team
- Provide expert advice and opinions weekly with each Division Supervisor
- Provide advice and opinions on accident mitigation with Department Head and Deputy Director
- Serve on the Accident Review Committee in a consultant capacity
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on the Public Works Policy Committee
- Collaborate with County Learning and Development Coordinator on leadership training opportunities
- Track and maintain staff training participation data
- Create and track pre and post evaluation and training assessments
- Provide data analysis on accidents and injuries
- Lead training audits of the department and/or contractors
- Assist in the preparation of budget documents
- Additional overtime duties may be required
- Assist with snow desk, emergency operation responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years experience in a construction, work environment
- Hazardous Materials training and knowledge preferred
