Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferred) or Construction Management / Construction Science and Management
  • Experience with a pipeline company considered an asset
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and perform highly detailed work under changing, intensive deadlines
  • Aptitude for analyzing and solving complex problems
  • Outstanding written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, SharePoint and Outlook); Microsoft Visio considered an asset
  • Cleared criminal history (background) check and satisfactory reference checks
  • Compliance with the company’s Drug & Alcohol Policy including pre-employment testing
  • Valid state driver’s license and driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers

Responsibilities

  • Lead small-scale projects and/or sub-teams on larger projects.
  • Lead all aspects of the project management process, including scope development, cost and schedule, contracting strategy, contractor bid and award, procurement, construction, documentation and close-out.
  • Implement detailed work plans and manage time and resources to meet project deadlines.
  • Define project risks and seek guidance (when necessary) to meet delivery goals.
  • Review the work of others against quality standards and recommend changes as needed.
  • Collaborate with operating locations in planning project execution and engage stakeholders.
  • Oversee field implementation for assigned projects, as appropriate.
  • Respond to routine / standard requests from internal and external clients/partners.
  • Manage contractor performance, adherence to Plains’ engineering specifications, and minimization of change orders.
  • Resolve design and construction conflicts; drive project performance.
  • Collaborate and assist with project reviews to ensure that project execution plans are grounded in sound engineering principles.
  • Ensure that concepts, costs, and schedules are well-developed and that projects achieve their stated objectives.
  • Prepare, administrate, and monitor project budgets and schedules.
  • Initiate, review, and negotiate project change orders.
  • Use existing procedures to solve routine problems; ask questions and review data to determine the root cause.
  • Develop and issue project reports as needed for both internal and external distribution.
  • Ensure the maintenance of detailed records of project activities.
