Requirements

  • Diploma in related field coupled with Trade Journeyman Certification will also be considered in combination with demonstrated experience, aptitude, and specific skills training.
  • Minimum of three (3) years progressive experience in a related plant engineering and/or project manager role within an industrial process operation.
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and Plant systems such as high and low voltage electrical distribution, instrumentation and controls, motors and drives, hydraulics, pneumatics, industrial and process ventilation, HVAC, buildings and structures, material handling systems and material separation equipment.
  • Working knowledge of applicable engineering issues including power consumption, corrosion/wear/fatigue analysis, Metallurgy, remediation and loss mitigation strategies, life cycle analysis and costing wear, etc.
  • Strong customer service attitude and commitment to providing exceptional customer service and quality results.
  • Strong Leadership skills.
  • Strong Project Management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict management skills to facilitate working effectively with wide range and number of people, including peers and manager, employees, and other departments, divisions, and management within all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates all technical and operational activities on assigned projects.
  • Plans, schedules, conducts and coordinates the technical, operational and management aspects of projects.
  • Monitors workers compliance with all safety policies, standards, and procedures to achieve a safe work environment.
  • Models effective conflict resolution skills and effectively resolves any conflicts in a timely manner.
  • Prepares Project engineering schedules and forecasts.
  • Coordinates and verifies engineering deliverables are on target.
  • Maintains extensive regular contact with assigned project Clients to achieve project KPIs.
  • Prepares weekly and monthly project status reports and change orders.
  • Assists in the preparation of engineering project proposals.
  • Proposes, plans and executes Plant maintenance overhaul programs and capital upgrades.
  • Identifies opportunities for equipment and system improvements and proposes supported changes and upgrades to the Maintenance/Project Manager.
  • Supervises, directs, and motivates staff, contractors, and consultants to deliver project on schedule and on budget.
  • Manages the safety program within the department by following all Veolia Waste Services policies.
  • Performs contract management including subcontracting, progress and payment authorizations, legal requirements, lien legislation, Occupational Health Act, etc.
  • Prepares budgets and monitors costs as well as participates with other Managers in the development of Plant and management budgets.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Diploma, Technical Certification or Engineering Degree, Mechanical discipline preferred.
  • Peng, EIT or PMP designation is required.
  • In-house training on the quality systems, quality regulations, and safe work practices (including WHMIS).
  • In-house training on Corporate policies.
  • Respectful Workplace Training.
