Requirements
- Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky.
- Bachelor’s or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university.
- Those with an associate degree in nursing and less than 10 years of experience must enroll within 12 months of hire in a bachelor’s degree program and must have achieved the degree within 5 years.
- Basic life support
- ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of Assignment.
Responsibilities
- Implement professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a whole person and the creation of a caring environment focused on healing and wellness.
- Honor patients’ mind, body, and spirit by respecting human dignity and the uniqueness of each individual.
- Base nursing practices on evidence and current research as well as hospital and department policies and procedures, regulatory standards, and professional guidelines.
- Incorporate all four phases of the nursing process, critical thinking, and creativity into clinical decision-making.
- Spend majority of time coordinating, ensuring, and providing direct patient care activities on the unit through provision of nursing rounds, assessments, and treatments; facilitating admission, transfer, and discharge activities; provision of patient and family-centered education; care coordination and individualized treatment planning as applicable.
