Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements
  • Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory testing experience is required OR a MLS degree
  • Experience with performing PCR-based genetic testing, including NGS platforms, is highly preferred
  • Experience with utilizing automated liquid handling instruments is highly preferred
  • Working knowledge of various computer coding languages (C#, SQL, VBA, XAML) is a plus
  • High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key resource for ongoing laboratory automation and process improvement initiatives.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for newly implemented automated laboratory workflows.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot assay-related issues and evaluate potential process enhancements.
  • Support and troubleshoot instrumentation, including liquid handlers and extraction systems.
  • Participate in the development, validation, and implementation of new automated processes.
  • Write and maintain Tecan scripts to support automation needs.
  • Test and troubleshoot Hamilton automation scripts, providing detailed feedback to vendors for optimization.
  • Train laboratory personnel on the use and maintenance of new automated systems.
  • Continuously optimize and refine existing automated workflows for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Design, verify, and maintain Excel spreadsheets for lab test tracking and result reporting.
  • Update, maintain, and troubleshoot databases used for tracking samples and reagents (e.g., primers), ensuring integration with the LIMS system.
  • Enhance existing assay tracking spreadsheets by adding features such as automated result validation.
