Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Environmental Science or a relevant field.
- 3+ years of relevant experience (including graduate work) within the Environmental Health and Safety field.
- Mechanical mind and an ability to obtain a Massachusetts Grade 3 wastewater operator’s license.
- Exceptionally strong computer skills are a must.
- Fundamental knowledge of relevant regulations (e.g. OSHA, DOT, RCRA, CWA, CAA, SPCC).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Customer service mentality is critical.
- Outstanding character and integrity.
- Valid driver’s license with no restrictions and a clean driving record for select sites/locations.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and management of information systems related to recordkeeping for EHS management and compliance programs.
- Support the ongoing compliance with environmental permits and regulatory requirements across a regional operating area or specific site.
- Support the preparation and submission of permit renewals.
- Support onsite wastewater treatment plant operator and work towards obtaining a Class 2 Operator license.
- Monitor EHS programs and performance to track compliance and effectiveness.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of facilities and equipment to identify and correct unsafe conditions and practices.
- Conduct regular inspections of above ground storage tanks, chemical storage areas, and waste accumulation areas to identify and correct noncompliant items.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to educate and ensure proper management and disposal of hazardous materials and waste.
- Participate with Safety Action Teams (SATs) across operating locations in the assigned region or site.
- Review management tools and measurement systems to facilitate compliance and the ability to satisfy regulatory scrutiny.
- Directly interface with Regulators during inspections.
- Assist leadership with responding to findings and implementing corrective actions stemming from regulatory inspection.
- Other tasks as assigned by team leadership.
- Driving may be required for select locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Specific environmental and health and safety trainings and certifications (i.e. OSHA 30hour, CSP, CHMP, CSHM, etc.).
- Familiarity with federal environmental, health, and safety regulations and permitting programs.
