Requirements

  • BSN
  • Masters in Nursing or related field if already holds a BSN degree. Either bachelors or graduate degree must be in nursing.
  • Current NYS RN Licensure
  • Three-five years of experience
  • Possess working knowledge of current clinical practice standards and models of care, including Joint Commission, NYSDOH and other regulatory agency requirements
  • Computer skill
  • Must demonstrate critical thinking, analytical skills and strong project management skills
  • Strong consensus building among different disciplines

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the planning, development, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of the automated Clinical Information System (CIS).
  • Collaborates with the Information Systems department in evaluation of changes and in processing user feedback and requests.
  • Participates in the process of revising and implementing changes in both the automated and manual components of the CIS.
  • Responds appropriately to requests and concerns from users or others affected by the system.
  • Maintains a detailed understanding and working knowledge of the current CIS, its functions and its relationship to other information systems within the enterprise.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of: current trends and issues in healthcare, nursing practice, healthcare informatics, national and state-wide standards and regulations, enterprise policies and procedures, and the legal implications of the CIS as related to clinical practice.
  • Leads projects as assigned by the Director of Nursing Informatics.
  • Develops and executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
  • Tracks status of work plans, resources and deliverables for individual projects and as appropriate.
  • Rolls up project information for overall program coordination, reporting and communication.
  • Collaborates with Nursing and IT Teams to facilitate implementation of clinical applications within established timelines.
  • Maintains an up-to-date understanding of the process involved in these activities.
  • Maintains membership on, or consultation to, committees, work groups, or task forces as needed to communicate and facilitate the ongoing progress of the development, implementation, and revision of the CIS.
  • Supports the policies of clinical information systems security and confidentiality mechanisms in accordance with user and/or facility policies and procedures.
  • Participates in systems analysis and research related to the CIS.
  • Maintains relationships with the Nursing and Clinical communities.
  • Provides proactive user support of the CIS including, but not limited to, training and education.
  • Assists in evaluation and development of training and in-service programs as related to Informatics activities effecting Nursing.
  • Participates in presentations and publications about the CIS at conferences and in journals as appropriate.
  • Attends conferences and seminars as appropriate.
  • Maintains membership in organizations that enhance professional development.
  • Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • American Nurses Credentialing Center approved national board Certification
