Requirements

  • You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering, or a related field.
  • You have 5 -10 years of experience in static stress analysis, ideally supplemented with fatigue and damage tolerance analysis.
  • You are familiar with the structural qualification requirements for aircraft structural elements such as engine mounts, nacelle primary & secondary structure and pylon.
  • You understand system installation qualification requirements (D0160, Vibration, Tubing….) for aircraft accessories such as fire detection loops, fire protection tubing, drains, fuel/hydraulic piping.
  • You are familiar with methods for calculating the loads of aerostructure elements.
  • You are proficient in FEA tools such as MSC Patran/Nastran, Hypermesh and Abaqus.
  • You have experience with Fatigue and Damage Tolerance Analysis with NASGRO.
  • You have a good understanding of Canadian Aviation Regulations (CAR) Airworthiness Manual (AWM) 525, development and certification life cycle processes.
  • You demonstrate strong responsibility, integrity and teamwork.
  • You possess strong communication and technical writing skills and can effectively work with English speaking suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze the structural viability of concepts for the various Propulsion components such as the engine mounts, the primary & secondary structure of the nacelle and the pylon.
  • Ensure design is compliant with system installation requirements and best practices.
  • For ‘Make’ work-packages, calculate, analyze loads, review static and fatigue analyses related to the propulsion structure.
  • For ‘Buy’ work-packages, collaborate with suppliers, to ensure compliance with the methodology and technical requirements of the program. Review supplier documents.
  • Support technical reviews and identify risks.
  • Estimate the amount of work needed to complete a given project.
  • Lead and coordinate technical activities with a major suppliers, and the various internal stakeholders.
  • Develop/foster collaboration with our counterparts at Airbus Commercial Europe (SAS) as well as promote the continuous improvement of new working methods, processes, and tools.
  • Ensure knowledge is well documented for future projects.
  • Deliver on TCQP (Time COst Quality Performance) and DO (Development Owner) role.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with composite structure is an asset.
  • Experience as a delegate within an approval organization (DAO) would be an asset.
  • Previous experience working on an aircraft development, in-service support program and MRB or Liaison would be an asset.
