Requirements

  • Ph.D. in animal sciences, biology, or a related discipline.
  • Evidence of effective teaching practices.
  • Ability to teach within the broad disciplines of animal sciences including growth, development, physiology, nutrition, genetics, and behavior.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a willingness and ability to work closely with diverse groups of academic (e.g., students, staff, faculty) and industry audiences.
  • Demonstrated interest in and/or experience with teaching, recruiting, mentoring, and advising diverse underserved students including women, students of color, first generation, and non-traditional students.

Responsibilities

  • Advance the practice of teaching through scholarship.
  • Contribute to the Department’s academic mission through the teaching of up to 15 credit hours of undergraduate courses per year.
  • Advise undergraduate students.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty and staff in Extension programming, including youth Extension programs.
  • Demonstrate an ability to cultivate learning environments that are equitable and inclusive of students with diverse social identities and backgrounds, and commitment to enhancing diversity and inclusion within Animal Sciences and related professions.
  • Work collaboratively with university faculty, staff, and students to advance the land grant mission of the college and university.
  • Serve the department, college, university, and professional communities through committee work and other appropriate responsibilities and activities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience or experiential learning in the swine industry.
  • Evidence of collaboration with the swine industry.
  • Evidence of effective collaboration and leadership with Extension programming.
