Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience working in product safety, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
- Experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, hi-pot testers, electronic loads, etc.
- Experience with procedures related to obtaining international product safety approvals (CB, CE, NRTL/C, BIS CRS, KC, RCM, BSMI, CCC, etc.).
Responsibilities
- Work closely with hardware design teams and suppliers to understand new project architectures. Determine the appropriate safety standards and regulations.
- Apply Hazard Based Safety Engineering principles to evaluate the hazards. Provide feedback to the design team to mitigate those hazards.
- Develop test plans and lead a compliance testing team to extract key data to validate all safety goals are met in accordance with relevant standards and specifications. Resolve non-compliant issues by the most efficient and cost effective methods.
- Cultivate good working relationships with customers, external suppliers, agencies, and manufacturing to further safety goals. Help in developing strategy and roadmap for Safety initiatives to support power, cooling, and data center infrastructure.
- Domestic and international business travel may be required. Communicate and document findings, risks and recommendations, perform failure analysis to sustaining engineering teams of deployed products.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Experience working within full product delivery life cycles in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
- Experience with large-scale fire and fault condition testing.
- Product Safety experience specifically with Information Technology Equipment, liquid cooling and cooling distribution units.
- Understanding of the regulatory landscape and requirements in data center applications.
- Understanding of hardware design constraints and tradeoffs, and an ability to find cost effective work arounds and simultaneously investigate multiple avenues to solve problems.
