Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, related field and/or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in purchasing/commodity management
- 3+ years working with purchasing/commodity management
- Proven experience as a Buyer or in a similar procurement role, preferably in the industry relevant to the organization.
- Strong knowledge of procurement principles, practices, and procedures.
- Experience negotiating terms and purchasing agreements
- Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment
- Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects
- Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization
- Familiarity with relevant legal requirements and regulations related to procurement processes
- Ability to travel approximately 10%, including internationally or as required.
- Capable in using procurement software and systems. NetSuite experience a plus but not required.
Responsibilities
- This role reports to Global Supply Chain Management and provides the necessary support to address the organizational procurement needs.
- Ability to conduct market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers, products, and services that align with the organization’s needs.
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing and new suppliers, ensuring effective communication and negotiation for favorable terms and conditions.
- Analyze and evaluate supplier proposals, taking into consideration price, quality, delivery times, and other relevant factors.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as Engineering, Manufacturing, and Finance, to ensure efficient supply chain management and timely delivery of goods and services.
- Monitor inventory levels and anticipate demand, making purchase decisions to maintain optimal stock levels while minimizing excess or obsolete inventory.
- Stay updated with industry trends, market conditions, and technological advancements to identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and supplier performance optimization.
- Resolve any issues or disputes with suppliers, such as late deliveries, quality concerns, or contractual non-compliance, ensuring a satisfactory resolution that aligns with the organization’s goals.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier information, utilizing procurement software and systems.
- Implement and maintain supplier performance metrics and conduct regular evaluations to drive continuous improvement in supplier relationships and performance.
- Adhere to ethical and sustainable procurement practices, considering factors such as fair trade, environmental impact, and social responsibility.
- Maintain Supplier Profile and other related supplier documents for the department.
- Provides internal support and procurement services to the organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- NetSuite experience a plus but not required.
