Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree – or equivalent work experience (5-10 years of progressive engineering, sales, or procurement of non-metallics)
- Complex strategic relationship management experience
- Well-developed communication and negotiation skills
- Lean manufacturing, demonstrated experience in reducing transactional waste and waste in suppliers’ processes
- Global sourcing knowledge and experience required, preferably with experience in non-metallics
- Ability to acquire and influence an understanding of governmental, environmental, political, and geographic factors that influence a supply base
- Previous 6 Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt or Sponsor experience preferred
- Experience in disciplines beyond procurement such as supply chain, manufacturing or engineering
- Professional certification in Purchasing and/or Inventory Management preferred, e.g. Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.), Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and Certified in Integration Resource Management (CIRM), or comparable international certification
- Affiliation with Institute for Supply Management (ISM) and American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS), or comparable professional purchasing organization
Responsibilities
- Manage the Non-Metallic component procurement to deliver year over year Quality, Cost, Logistics, Development, and Management (QCLDM) performance improvement and create value through suppliers
- Serve as the industry expert for non-metallic manufacturing within Caterpillar
- Develop, communicate, and implement a worldwide sourcing strategy for Caterpillar’s non-metallic category
- Collaborate with Site and Product Managers to create a competitive advantage for customers and the enterprise
- Recruit, train/mentor and manage a high performing, global team of supplier development engineers and purchasing professionals
- Develop the supply base capable of meeting QCLDM requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous 6 Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt or Sponsor experience preferred
