Requirements
- 3-5+ years of experience processing (or underwriting) FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, HELOC and Jumbo mortgages
- 3+ years of management experience, managing a team of direct reports
- Strong understanding of purchase, refi, and jumbo guidelines
- Knowledge of agency conventional underwriting product guidelines
- Familiarity with Desktop Underwriter (DU) & Loan Prospector (LPA)
- Effective communication, organization, and time management skills
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems independently
- Ability to maintain composure in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing and leading a team of 10-15 individual contributors towards team objectives and KPIs throughout production cycles.
- Effectively provide and coach through qualitative and quantitative feedback sessions for your direct reports.
- Effectively manage a daily routine to ensure the team meets daily KPIs
- Monitor and develop daily cadence as the product continues to improve and be able to quickly adjust as needed or required
- Serve as the first line of defence to diffuse customer escalations to management.
- Support processing team thorough secondary analysis of applicant’s income and expense data, self-employment documentation, credit reports, and property valuations to affirm borrower qualifies for loan.
- Have the knowledge to be able to verify and analyse all necessary financial information and documentation; ensure that loan files contain all necessary credit and legal documents to satisfy underwriting conditions.
- Have the knowledge to be able to Calculate qualifying ratios, to determine creditworthiness.
- Support the Coordination team through consistent feedback sessions and 1:1 developmental coaching session
- Monitor and oversee the team’s performance and be able to pivot and act quickly
- Work alongside your peers in both India and in the US to collaborate and ensure processes and procedures are in place to create a smooth and seamless customer experience.
- Have extensive mortgage knowledge that includes knowledge of how qualifying income and assets are calculated as well as an understanding of the mortgage process and flow.
- Complying with corporate policies and procedures, as well regulatory compliance.
- Work collaboratively to build knowledge and skill set by working cross functionally
- Stay up to date with industry regulations and investor guidelines changes.
