Requirements

  • Bachelor’s (required) or Master’s degree in chemical engineering, materials, mechanical or industrial engineering.
  • 2-5 years related experience in a Chemical/Materials Manufacturing environment or technical role, required.
  • Statistical analysis and problem solving (e.g., DOE) knowledge required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills (written, oral and presentations) and strong computer skills (e.g. Wonderware, Excel, Statistical Packages).
  • Must be team player, capable of working closely with other process engineers, quality technicians, operators, maintenance personnel to determine practical solutions to operational issues.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor process variables to ensure production standards are met and take action as needed.
  • Develop and maintain engineering standards to ensure product quality is met.
  • Responsible for reducing process variations to consistently produce product at target quality level and lowest production cost.
  • Develop best practices to reduce process variations in collaboration with quality function.
  • Take an active part in the Site Safety Improvement Plan and bring technical expertise to help the site reduce risks.
  • Reviews operations, and confer with technical, manufacturing and quality personnel to resolve production or processing problems.
  • Analysis of production issues using collected data and knowledge of the process to provide engineering solutions.
  • Attend production stoppages and work to return the facility to operation as soon as possible.
  • Lead process engineering related troubleshooting (batch making issues, spinning, converting, on-line scraps).
  • Works actively to identify and recommend process improvements in support of overall continuous improvement and cost savings.
  • Provides recommendations for safe equipment operation and appropriate application of available technology.
  • Ensures that adequate documentation & training is in place to ensure our processes perform to standards and conform to quality expectations.
  • As needed, conducts training sessions aimed at improving employee’s base understanding of production process and customer requirements in these product lines and enhancing problem-solving skills.
  • Support R&D trials of new products, new/alternate process materials, material suppliers, or process parameters.
  • Ensure that team operation, including those undertaken on the Company’s behalf by third-party service providers, is conducted in a manner that fully complies with Alkegen health and safety, quality, environmental and corporate policies.
  • Be actively involved in their own personal development plans to maximize performance in the role and the contribution to succession requirements of the business.
  • Must comply with all Federal, State, Local and Company rules and regulations on Health, Safety and Environmental issues.
  • Responsible for maintaining Alkegen’s highest level of safety standards on site including identifying and correcting unsafe conditions and unsafe acts.
  • Will embody Alkegen’s core safety principles including but not limited to The Seven Safety Absolutes, use of PPE, and Safe Standards of Work at all times.
  • Will champion safety in the workplace each day.
