Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent degree from an accredited law school
- License or qualification to practice law in the U.S. state where you reside
- 4+ years of privacy experience
- 4+ years of product counseling and/or commercial transactional experience
- CIPP/US required; CIPP/E helpful
- 6+ years of combined legal experience at an innovative technology company and a top law firm
- In-house experience at a Business-to-Consumer or Business-to-Business company
Responsibilities
- Negotiate and handle privacy and commercial agreements with customers, vendors, suppliers, and partners, including DPAs.
- Negotiate technology transactions and license agreements.
- Advise product teams, so being comfortable with advanced AI technology is important.
- Conduct privacy and AI assessments for new products and features.
- Conduct ROPAs and understand data flows.
- Partner closely with technical, product, procurement, and commercial teams to implement privacy-by-design, AI governance, and counsel on privacy, product, and commercial matters.
- Ability and desire to be a swiss army knife: pitch in for anything needed in the legal department, even if it’s unfamiliar or not in your lane.
- Get stuff done; and rise to the level of responsibility of which you’re capable!

- Experience working in a startup or fast-growth environment
- A proactive approach to law, focusing not just on privacy compliance but on enabling business growth through realistic product and commercial legal strategies
- Entrepreneurial mindset with sound judgment in ambiguous environments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and make decisions in high-pressure situations, and at the same time being a highly collaborative teammate
- Experience overseeing privacy assessments, operations, and compliance
- Ability to communicate well with teammates
- Proficient in understanding complex legal concepts and translating them into actionable business advice
- Tech-savvy with an understanding or keen interest in emerging technologies like AI
- Full professional fluency in English
