Requirements
- PhD in theoretical physics, applied mathematics, or a relevant engineering field with 1 year of relevant technical experience; master’s degree plus 3 years of relevant technical experience; bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of relevant technical experience.
- Experience developing physics-based simulation and optimization techniques.
- Experience developing mathematical models to understand experimental results.
- Experience in scientific software development.
- Proficiency writing code in Python.
- US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS/SCI) clearance with polygraph per business requirements.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement simulation models and optimization techniques for novel experiments on superconducting devices.
- Use simulation tools to analyze and understand test results on superconducting devices.
- Support the current and future development of simulation tools within function, cost, and schedule constraints.
- Mentor junior staff.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in theoretical physics, applied mathematics, or a relevant engineering field.
- Experience with simulating qubits, quantum information, or superconducting electronics.
- Experience with running scientific software on high-performing computing systems.
- Experience in numerical optimization (e.g., Bayesian optimization, gradient-based optimization).
- Active TS/SCI with poly clearance.
