Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in motor design or optimization.
- Deep understanding of electromagnetics, loss mechanisms, and scaling laws.
- Proficiency with motor simulation tools e.g. JMAG, ANSYS Maxwell, FEMM, etc.
- Strong mechanical and electrical designer with good intuition for multidisciplinary trades.
- Experience with motor manufacturing and cost-performance tradeoffs.
Responsibilities
- Design and optimize motors for performance, efficiency, and manufacturability.
- Run electromagnetic, thermal, and structural simulations to guide design decisions.
- Collaborate heavily with mechanical, electrical, controls, and manufacturing teams on actuator design.
- Trade and specify motor topologies, materials, winding strategies, and cooling methods.
- Support fast prototyping, validation, and iteration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bonus: background in robotics or other compact electromechanical systems.
