Requirements

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics or a related discipline with at least 10 years of experience in design and development of robotic systems OR Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics or a related discipline with at least 13 years of experience in design and development of robotic systems OR Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics or a related discipline with a minimum of 15 years of experience in design and development of robotic software and systems.
  • Demonstrated deep domain knowledge in the areas of robotics system, autonomous systems, human-robot collaboration, and/or multi-robot collaboration.
  • Proven record of innovation, such as patents, peer-reviewed publications and conference proceedings, in areas related to the specified scientific domain of robotics and autonomy.
  • Demonstrated project execution experience, teamwork experience, and ability to work across all functions/levels as part of a team.
  • Experience writing successful R&D proposals to government agencies, such as DARPA, Air Force, Navy, Army, etc.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.

  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY.

Responsibilities

  • Be a technical pillar in a multidisciplinary team, shaping technical visions and leading organizational strategy on robotics and autonomy, including but not limited to robotic system design, motion planning, perception, situational awareness, reasoning, manipulation, system integration, human-robot interaction, and/or multi-robot collaboration.
  • Invent and implement functional systems and solutions and demonstrate robotics and autonomy applications to real world problems by quick prototyping and validation.
  • Foster and grow relationships with colleagues across GE Aerospace Research with a wide variety of technical expertise and business responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with Chief and consulting engineers, product managers in GE Aerospace businesses to identify short- and long-term problems and technical challenges, and growth opportunities in robotics and autonomous systems.
  • Lead and grow external and commercial opportunities, proposing solutions to some of the world’s toughest challenges and leading proposals as principal investigator for government grant considerations.
  • Be a thought leader, drive, and lead IP strategy development through the invention disclosure process.
  • Work closely with the technology manager in shaping the team competencies and technical leadership; be a coach and mentor for developing technologists to strive for technical excellence.
  • Identify, shape, and drive collaborative relationships with academia, government agencies, national labs, industry partners and suppliers, and GE Aerospace experts to increase impact and accelerate innovation.
  • Deliver effective and productive presentations, reports, and publications to GE Aerospace Research and business leadership team, government agencies, professional societies, conferences, and symposium, and/or peer-reviewed journals.
