Requirements

  • 8+ years of related experience, ideally shipping multiple high quality games
  • Portfolio showing stylized or non photorealistic character art
  • Experience in fantasy or fantasy adjacent genres
  • Expertise in non photorealistic material and texture creation
  • Expertise with Unreal Engine or equivalent game engine
  • Strong understanding of human and animal/creature anatomy
  • Zbrush, Maya, Substance and/or other creation software expertise
  • Ability to work well within a cross-discipline, highly iterative, team environment
  • Creative and technical ability to hit game performance targets for the best possible gameplay
  • Ability to lead, either by example as a craft leader, or as a manager and mentor.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Art Director to define the Character Art style and pipeline
  • Lead by example to elevate quality and process on the Character Art team
  • Create high quality character and creature models, materials, and textures
  • Find and tackle technical issues to ensure smooth gameplay, and work with the Tools team to build the best pipeline
  • Strategize with a cross-discipline player experience team to accomplish art, gameplay, and technical goals
  • Help define and maintain a consistently high quality bar for the game and franchise
  • Direct and mentor other team members and external partners

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pre-production and visual development experience
  • Passion for fantasy universes in any form of media
  • Diverse portfolio including both human and creature examples
  • Experience with player driven customization and armor systems
  • Deep technical art knowledge in Unreal engine is a plus but not required
  • Passion for games, community, and creating rich player experiences
  • Experience with multiplayer action games is a plus
  • Experience with NPR or cel shaded workflows
