Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Risk Management and Insurance, or a related field or equivalent experience
- Generally, 10 years of experience in Premium Audit, Underwriting, Accounting, or Finance
- Insurance accounting experience preferred
- Continuing progress toward and/or the completion of a professional designation preferred, such as Associates in Premium Audit Program (APA), Associate in Underwriting (AU), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), or Associate of Risk Management (ARM)
- Demonstrates advanced technical knowledge across various accounting principles and practices
- Demonstrates advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
- Maintains knowledge of industry trends, regulations, and best practices
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Responsibilities
- Conducts thorough audits of insureds financial records to verify the accuracy of reported premiums
- Conducts reviews and analysis of complex financial statements, payroll records, and other relevant documents
- Resolves complex discrepancies in policyholder records by coordinating with producers, underwriters, insureds, leadership, and other internal departments
- Evaluates and determines the applicability of insurance certificates and class codes to specific exposures
- Analyzes claim activity on policies to ensure that employee coding is consistent and accurate
- Prepares and presents detailed audit reports to management
- Collaborates with underwriters and other internal departments to ensure accurate premium calculations
- Provides excellent customer service to policyholders by addressing complex audit-related inquiries
- May monitor and evaluate premium audit practices
- May have responsibility for performance and coaching of staff
Preferred Qualifications
- Insurance accounting experience preferred
