Requirements
- A PhD in stable isotope geochemistry, organic geochemistry, or microbial biogeochemistry or related discipline by appointment start date
- Demonstrated effective writing skills through high-quality reports and publications
Responsibilities
- Conduct research on the clumped isotope compositions of methyl groups
- Lead a collaborative effort to measure and interpret the isotope effects associated with biologic methyl synthesis and transfer
- Test whether the clumped isotopic composition of methyl groups synthesized by living organisms are systematically different than those synthesized by abiotic processes
- Test whether biologic methyl shuffling leaves a discernible isotopic imprint, regardless of the source.
