Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Polysomnographic Technologist, Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists upon hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS), American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 90 days.
Responsibilities
- Performs diagnostic sleep testing, including but not limited to order interpretation, medication administration, patient hook-up and monitoring, BLS responsibility, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) initiation and titration, oxygen administration, and other related duties.
- Analyzes data collected during sleep testing, including but not limited to staging, calculation of appropriate indices, and other related activities.
- Documents findings / patient responses in a manner consistent with documentation guidelines.
- Maintains equipment for proper function and operation.
- Evaluates patients’ and significant others’ educational needs and develops and implements appropriate teaching strategies or makes appropriate referrals.
- Mentors’ polysomnographic technicians with regard to all aspects of sleep medicine. Validates ten percent of scoring performed by polysomnographic technicians.
- Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Respiratory Therapist State of Michigan
- Respiratory Therapist Registry, National Board for Respiratory Care upon hire.
