Requirements
- 5+ years advanced knowledge of fossil fuel power station operations.
- Proficient computer skills in programs such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Position requires working on feet for extended working hours and varied shifts with weekend and holiday work required.
- Ability to frequently climb stairs, climb ladders to and work from elevated platforms and walkways at elevations of 75 feet or more.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
Responsibilities
- Oversees production at Kincaid Power Station to ensure safe, environmentally responsible, reliable, efficient and economical electricity generation.
- Ensures the station operates within local, company, state and federal regulations and policies.
- Performs general leadership and administrative duties, including, but not limited to employee performance assessment/counseling, safety and training.
- Performs leadership duties in the implementation of policies, procedures and work methods for Control Room Operators and other assigned personnel.
- Thorough understanding of safety policies/programs, environmental and regulatory policies/requirements.
- This job requires the ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions while exposed to heat, cold, operating machinery, energized wires, loud noise, dust, grease, oil and fumes.
- Personal protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g. hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, respirators, chemical suits, high voltage protective equipment, and firefighter gear).
- Coordinates Operations’ activities with other departments at the station.
- Sets and communicates performance and professionalism standards.
- Works a rotating shift.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years’ experience in a supervisor position, preferably in a union environment.
- Associate’s Degree related to power plants or other relevant industry, technical degree or relative military experience.
- Previous experience involving leadership, problem solving, negotiating, computer and effective communication skills.
- Operating experience with B&W cyclone UP boilers and Westinghouse turbine generators.
- Power Plant Control Room Operator experience preferred.
