Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three to five years of leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to organize people and tasks; possess leadership skills; have a strong working knowledge of the company and its products.
  • Must be a self-starter with good time management; proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
  • Effectively communicate with all levels of employment both verbally and in writing.
  • Interpersonal skills are also required. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all plant production, materials, equipment and tools to ensure efficiency is maintained and projects remain on schedule for the production department.
  • Conduct meetings with shift supervision to ensure work is properly delegated and production schedules are met.
  • Support and strive to meet company safety goals and work to resolve any safety issues that arise.
  • Lead and assist with resolution of manufacturing issues as required.
  • Work closely with Operations Management in the planning and communication of daily plant activities.
  • Provide leadership for the implementation and execution of the HSE program.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to and ownership of HSE compliance by leading by example, being knowledgeable in the safety policies/procedures, and understanding their role in environmental permits and policies.
  • Create an environment of openness, trust, and mutual respect which allows employees to excel in HSE performance.
  • Clearly communicate HSE policies and expectations on a regular basis and hold direct reports accountable for meeting expectations.
  • Manage HSE expectations by frequent safety observations, by identifying and correcting workplace hazards, and by coaching employees through one-on-one contacts.
  • Assure that working safely is truly a condition of employment.
  • Support and adhere to Westlake HSE initiatives such as Westlake Life Critical Rules, Safe Start, and the STAR (Stop, Think, Ask, Report) program.
  • Facilitate making sure Supervisors train their employees on safety rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Ensure Supervisors provide appropriate injury response and case management for employees and leads or participates in accident investigations.
  • Utilize formal corrective action along with recognition and rewards to produce desired behaviors.
  • Ensure site metrics are achieved by personal completion of assigned HSE tasks and by ensuring completion of tasks given to direct reports (i.e. completing assigned HSE training).
  • Maintain safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Maintain quality service to customers by making sure production schedules are completed on time.
  • Maintain product quality by ensuring supervisors and operators produce products to set quality standards and specifications.
  • Ensure continuous improvement throughout the plant to increase efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve product quality.
  • Accomplish manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain staff by assisting with recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Maintain workflow by monitoring steps of the process; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Complete production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
  • Provide manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data; answering questions and responding to requests.
  • Create and revise systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements; implementing change.
  • Work with operations management to resolve personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.
  • Ensure effective operation of equipment by use of preventative maintenance, calling for repairs, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Establish, evaluate, and monitor departmental training and competencies with recommended action plans.
  • Comply with company policy and procedures.
  • Maintain constructive working relationships with co-workers and supervisors/managers.
  • Maintain regular attendance in accordance with company policy.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
