Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (in progress)
- Relevant experience working in a biological laboratory
- Compliance with associated safety protocols
- Willingness and demonstrated ability to learn on the job
- Biology major, specifically microbiology, molecular biology, genetics, or cellular biology
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team
- Accept direction from more experienced scientists and engineers
- Must be US Citizen or a Permanent Resident/Green Card holder
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement controls and operations for spacecraft, instruments, and associated hardware
- Collaborate with Planetary Protection Engineers and other Engineers
- Test and implement new metagenomics procedures for characterizing microorganisms
- Monitor, evaluate, and verify implementation of Project contamination control requirements
- Assist in troubleshooting and solving contamination problems
Preferred Qualifications
- Microbiological lab experience, such as working with bacterial cultures
- Knowledge of molecular biology lab techniques
- Knowledge of DNA sequencing
