Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business, humanities, social science, education, counseling or related field.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in career coaching, higher education, human resources, or recruiting.
- Strong resume writing, editing, and job search skills.
- Demonstrated project management abilities, interpersonal skills, professional demeanor, and excellence in oral and written communication.
- Exceptional event planning skills + comfort presenting in large group settings.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Coach Economics students virtually and in-person, both individually and in group settings, regarding career readiness, including: resume/cover letter reviews, mock interviews, internship/job searches, career exploration, and providing resources on employment data and industry trends related to student interests.
- Handle a high volume of students efficiently.
- Enter and maintain electronic coaching notes onto database.
- Serve as Teaching Assistant to ECO 101S course grading class assignments and occasionally hosting lectures.
- Answer Economics-related correspondence and emails from students.
- Collaborate with Liberal Arts Career Services team in creating and distributing marketing materials/initiatives to Economics undergraduates.
- Responsibilities include marketing jobs/internships, sending pre-event + post-event requests to relevant stakeholders (students, staff, faculty, alum, employers), and promoting intra-campus resources relevant to Economics majors.
- Support Economics Career Pathways Coordinator with planning, coordinating, and presenting workshops and initiatives related to student engagement, including employer events, alum events, and presentations to classrooms + student groups.
- Assist with coordination of logistics and guest services to Economics Speakers Series, UTIMCO Scholar Program, Summer Orientation, and related employer/alumni events.
- Represent Liberal Arts Career Services and the Department of Economics in on-campus and off-campus meetings and conferences.
- Attend professional development webinars and conferences to maintain exposure to latest industry trends and professional experiences relevant to Economics majors.
- Support and collaborate with Liberal Arts Career Services team at College-wide events, including all fairs.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and professional development meetings weekly.
- Support Economics Career Pathways Coordinator with data tracking and reporting efforts.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree.
- Demonstrated experience working in higher education career services, admissions coaching, or the field of economics.
- Experience critiquing resumes and internship/job applications.
- Experience with AI tools/software including ChatGPT.
- Familiarity with UT departments and processes.
- Demonstrated knowledge of finance and consulting industries.
- Proficiency in data management and reporting.
- Experience with cloud-based software, including Handshake, Symplicity, 12twenty and/or Canvas.
