Requirements
- Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), board certified or board eligible in specialization required.
- State of Ohio and DEA licensure
- Competency in technical, clinical and surgical skills (where appropriate), cognitive and interpersonal skills required to serve those patients
- Practice within the established Medical Center and Physician’s standards of practice (policies, procedures, protocols), and adhere to key results areas of the Medical Center.
Responsibilities
- Provide licensed medical care including medical care including diagnosis, treatment (inclusive of surgery or pre/post-surgical care where appropriate), case management, and clinical research
- Manage complex and sometimes unpredictable situations
- Direct and provide direct and indirect patient care services in both inpatient and outpatient settings
- Conduct ambulatory clinics; interviews, obtain and review the medical history of patients
- Perform physical examinations to access medical or surgical needs
- Order special procedures, diagnostic testing, and other ancillary services; respond to consultation requests
- Determine, prescribe, and implement treatment plans and/or medications required; document all services and instructions provided in the medical record
- Educate patients and promote wellness, prevention, and early detection by providing materials, resources, and services to patients and their families
- Respond and maintain open communication with referring physicians
- Ensure continuing medical educational requirements are met; participate in department, college, medical center, and university committees and other service activities
- Perform other duties and /or call assignments as defined by the Chair or his/her designee
- Perform surgical procedures where assigned
- Serve as preceptor and provide bedside training of residents, fellows, medical students, undergraduate and graduate students, nursing staff, and other allied health medical professionals.
