Requirements
- Applicants must be board-eligible or board-certified in Ophthalmology by the time of appointment
- Must hold an MD or DO degree
- Must have completed an approved residency program in Ophthalmology
- Subspecialty training in a Retina fellowship is required
- Knowledge and proficiency in medical and surgical management area of subspecialty
- Demonstrated interest in scholarship and discovery by evidence of basic and/or clinical applied research and publications
- Commitment to resident, fellow, and medical student education is required
Responsibilities
- Responsible for patient care, research, and education
- Expected to perform the full range of responsibilities in the areas of teaching, research/scholarship, and service
- Clinical services are a component of faculty responsibility, with or without the presence of a trainee
- Participation in coverage at Columbus, VA, is required
- Active participation in divisional, departmental, and college committee functions is expected
- Participation in local, regional, or national professional organizations is also expected
