Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or business preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in healthcare management preferred
  • Knowledge of accounting, insurance, coding, clinical coordination, and computer operations
  • Working knowledge of insurance industry practices including managed care
  • Excellent communications skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to work well with physicians, staff members and other hospital personnel
  • Adaptability to challenging situations with composure and professional attitude

Responsibilities

  • Ability to understand the goals of the practice and work to obtain these goals both independently and with the direction of administration
  • Serve as liaison with medical staff / practitioners
  • Assist with budget evaluation and improvement
  • Assist with monthly review of budget and expenses and implement improvements as required
  • Stay current of changes in healthcare field that relate to the practice
  • Management of staff to include hiring, training, supervising and evaluating
  • Direct daily activities of the office staff
  • Oversee ordering and usage of supplies
  • Review / process requests for payment
  • Process / approve payroll / submit corrections
  • Oversee billing and collections
  • Stays current with appropriateness of charges and documentation
  • Daily interactions with employees and patients
  • Constantly assesses environment and address potential situations
  • Oversee proper maintenance of all offices
  • Respond to patient inquiries and complaints adequately and efficiently and handle resolve
  • Respond to request for reports and information from billing system

  • Supervises front desk staff with responsibility for registration, billing, collections, charge verification, and all financial operations.
  • Supervises clinical staff with responsibility for providing direction for physician and hospital requirements including Joint Commission, licensure, required certifications, etc.
  • Prepare all required reports for productivity and quality measurement
  • Provide necessary documentation for audits
  • Contain expense costs within budgetary constraints
  • Serves as liaison between hospital and medical staff in interpretation and support of approved policies and procedures.
  • Supervises staff to insure departmental and hospital goals and objectives are accomplished
  • Participate in personal and professional development programs
  • Evaluate employees giving feedback, both positive and constructive, promote and discipline as necessary
  • Oversees time/attendance reports and all other personnel payroll reports
  • Monitors and evaluates department personnel on an on-going basis. Provides constructive interaction, increases and/or promotions. Performs corrective action counseling and recommends termination of employment when necessary.
  • Initiates requisitions, interviews, hires and monitors new personnel
  • Develops departmental policies, procedures and job descriptions and performance standards
