Requirements

  • Master’s degree completion of accredited Physician Assistant program or Nurse Practitioner program.
  • NP or PA state of MN license required upon hire
  • Certified Nurse Practitioner – American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) certification within specialty required upon hire or Certification as Physician Assistant – NCCPA National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants upon hire required
  • Licensed Registered Nurse – MN Board of Nursing required upon hire (NP)
  • ACLS-BLS Tier 2 – Multisource required within 180 Days
  • Drug Enforcement Administration upon hire required

Responsibilities

  • Perform minor procedures such as paracentesis, thoracentesis, thyroid fine needle aspiration, arthrography, CT and US-guided biopsies, etc
  • Perform pre- and post-procedural follow-up patient evaluation, draft notes in the medical record
  • Call results of imaging examinations, if needed
  • Administer contrast agents and radiopharmaceuticals as prescribed by the radiologist
  • Administer general medications as prescribed by the radiologist in conformance with organizational policy
  • Care of the patient prior to, during and following radiological procedures, wound management, diet intervention, insertion and removal of vascular catheters, management of drainage tubes
  • Completes comprehensive patient assessments.
  • Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness.
  • Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician.
  • Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment.
  • Conducts patient education when working to manage chronic illness or wellness care.
  • Refers for specialty care when determined.
  • Consults with physician when patient needs outside of APP scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience post Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner training strongly preferred
  • Prefer 1 year of Interventional Radiology experience
