Requirements
- Master’s degree completion of accredited Physician Assistant program or Nurse Practitioner program.
- NP or PA state of MN license required upon hire
- Certified Nurse Practitioner – American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) certification within specialty required upon hire or Certification as Physician Assistant – NCCPA National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants upon hire required
- Licensed Registered Nurse – MN Board of Nursing required upon hire (NP)
- ACLS-BLS Tier 2 – Multisource required within 180 Days
- Drug Enforcement Administration upon hire required
Responsibilities
- Perform minor procedures such as paracentesis, thoracentesis, thyroid fine needle aspiration, arthrography, CT and US-guided biopsies, etc
- Perform pre- and post-procedural follow-up patient evaluation, draft notes in the medical record
- Call results of imaging examinations, if needed
- Administer contrast agents and radiopharmaceuticals as prescribed by the radiologist
- Administer general medications as prescribed by the radiologist in conformance with organizational policy
- Care of the patient prior to, during and following radiological procedures, wound management, diet intervention, insertion and removal of vascular catheters, management of drainage tubes
- Completes comprehensive patient assessments.
- Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness.
- Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician.
- Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment.
- Conducts patient education when working to manage chronic illness or wellness care.
- Refers for specialty care when determined.
- Consults with physician when patient needs outside of APP scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years of experience post Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner training strongly preferred
- Prefer 1 year of Interventional Radiology experience
