Requirements
- Must be licensed as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the State of Maine.
- Preferred candidates will have experience in office-based pulmonology, sleep medicine, and/or neurology.
- Working knowledge of common problems, including their diagnosis and management, encountered in pulmonology and sleep medicine.
- An expanded knowledge base in pulmonology and sleep medicine is expected with progressive clinical experience.
- Outpatient/Office/Ambulatory setting preferred.
- Must meet or exceed continuing education requirements for licensure.
- Certification in Basic Life Support with AED required.
- Ability to work 9 hours/day for 2.5-3 days/week
Responsibilities
- Evaluates new and follow-up patients in pulmonology and sleep medicine.
- Orders appropriate diagnostic studies, such as imaging, polysomnography, pulmonary function tests, and laboratory tests.
- Develops and implements care plans, including treatment and referral as appropriate.
- Documents the clinical encounter.
- Provides clinical direction for patients when their physicians are unavailable.
- Participates in utilization review and prior authorization requests.
- Supports programmatic development, particularly for complex lung disease.
