Requirements
- High school diploma program or GED.
- Experience with sterile compounding and/or 6 months technician experience and/or graduate of an ASHP accredited technician training program. Preferred
- LIC-Pharmacy Technician – STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
- LIC-Pharmacist Intern – STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
Responsibilities
- Fills medication orders including oral, injectable and topical medications and intravenous admixtures.
- Enters patient demographics, insurance information and prescriptions into the pharmacy information system, prioritizing scripts for customers waiting.
- Appropriately handles and reprocesses rejected claims.
- Processes prescriptions, retrieves correct medication, fills and labels prescription and attaches any necessary notifications.
- Files completed scripts in the patient pickup bins after pharmacist verification.
- Answers telephone and assists customers at the lobby counter and Pharmacy drive-through window.
- Updates and electronically transmits the daily drug order – monitors and documents/communicates special orders and shortages.
- Processes daily drug order from wholesaler, stocks drug shelves, checks for outdated drugs, logs controlled drugs and files invoices.
- Contacts supplier to resolve discrepancies on invoice.
- Distributes prepared medications to patient care areas, patient bedside and/or other departments of the hospital.
- Reconciles cash drawer twice daily (opening and closing) and documents per policy.
- Performs other record keeping duties as required.
- Assists in training of new staff and a resource for IT support personal.
- Maintains work area in a safe and orderly manner.
- Cleaning and dusting of work areas and shelves.
- Disinfecting of high touch points such as counters, credit card devices, phones, counting utensils and signature pads.
- May rotate to other outpatient pharmacy sites/home delivery pharmacy as needed.
