Requirements

  • Typically 3+ years with bachelor’s or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Basic knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
  • Familiarity and proficiency with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, SAP) and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to internal departments and employees on payroll tax-related inquiries.
  • Audit vendor tax filings and prepare tax amendments as needed (e.g., federal/state/local tax filings, unemployment taxes, etc.).
  • Review and audit payroll tax filings and reports prepared by payroll vendors for accuracy and compliance.
  • Reconcile payroll tax accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Monitor changes in payroll tax laws and regulations and ensure accurate application to payroll processes.
  • Respond to payroll tax authority notices and audit requests; prepare supporting documentation and respond to inquiries.
  • Maintain accurate records of tax payments, filings, and adjustments.
  • Collaborate with payroll providers, auditors, tax agencies, and internal stakeholders to resolve tax issues.
  • Assist in the maintenance of payroll tax setup in payroll systems.
  • Participate in projects involving payroll system updates, tax compliance initiatives, and process improvements.
  • Perform periodic internal audits to ensure payroll tax data integrity. Document tax procedures and assist in the education of tax requirements to the broader Payroll team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPP or FPC certification is a plus.
