Requirements
- Current New York State Licensed Registered Nurse
- BSN
- Clinical experience in related specialty with progressive responsibility and accountability
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in quality and patient safety methodologies and performance improvement management.
- Proficient in presenting clinical updates/materials to clinical staff related to quality and patient safety.
- Demonstrated ability to review literature and other validated sources/evidence of professional standards of care to make sure hospital policies/procedures are current.
- Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork amongst diverse groups; to lead and or serve as team member/departmental representative.
- Ability to adapt, flexible with assignment changes due to departmental needs and organizational quality and patient safety priorities.
Responsibilities
- Assist within the unit/department level programs related to quality and patient safety, performance improvement, PI project management and teamwork/skills validation.
- Assist in data abstractions.
- Recommend educational initiatives or policy changes or programs aimed at the prevention of safety events or medical errors.
- Coach clinicians to execute patient safety goals and a culture of safety.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters in Nursing or related field if already holds a BSN degree. Either bachelors of graduate degree must be in Nursing
- Experience in serious and near miss safety events-investigated, RCA, development of interventions to improve systems/processes as indicated.
- Able to assist clinical staff with performance improvement project publications- abstract writing, poster/podium presentations as needed.
