Requirements

  • Current New York State Licensed Registered Nurse
  • BSN
  • Clinical experience in related specialty with progressive responsibility and accountability
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in quality and patient safety methodologies and performance improvement management.
  • Proficient in presenting clinical updates/materials to clinical staff related to quality and patient safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to review literature and other validated sources/evidence of professional standards of care to make sure hospital policies/procedures are current.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork amongst diverse groups; to lead and or serve as team member/departmental representative.
  • Ability to adapt, flexible with assignment changes due to departmental needs and organizational quality and patient safety priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist within the unit/department level programs related to quality and patient safety, performance improvement, PI project management and teamwork/skills validation.
  • Assist in data abstractions.
  • Recommend educational initiatives or policy changes or programs aimed at the prevention of safety events or medical errors.
  • Coach clinicians to execute patient safety goals and a culture of safety.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters in Nursing or related field if already holds a BSN degree. Either bachelors of graduate degree must be in Nursing
  • Experience in serious and near miss safety events-investigated, RCA, development of interventions to improve systems/processes as indicated.
  • Able to assist clinical staff with performance improvement project publications- abstract writing, poster/podium presentations as needed.
