Requirements

  • CA Nurse Practitioner (NP) and Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Number
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration
  • CA RN license
  • BLS
  • NP Certification by national certification board and Master’s degree in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice degree; or obtained Medicare billing privileges as an NP before Jan 1, 2003 and NP-C Certification by national certification board; or obtained Medicare billing privileges prior to Jan 1, 2001.
  • Five years minimum of ambulatory experience as a Nurse Practitioner (NP)
  • Prior to assignment, HR must receive clearance from KDHCD Medical Staff office that the medical staff credentialing process is complete
  • Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Ability to facilitate conflict resolution, team building, and team advocacy
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Partners with the APP Director on APP recruitment, interviews, selection, training, onboarding, development, discipline, and recognition.
  • Serves as an advocate and resource to the assigned APP team for full practice congruent with training/experience/licensure within regulatory standards, clinic processes, patient care management, and teamwork issues.
  • Assesses general APP educational/training needs and coordinates learning opportunities/workshops for ongoing professional advancement.
  • Collaborates with clinic management for APP scheduling to ensure equitable and manageable distribution of shift coverage as needed for the clinics.
  • Works with APP Director, clinical leadership and other healthcare team members to identify opportunities for improvement and develop best practices for care.
  • Develops, recommends, and participates in the formulation of procedures and protocols for assigned APPs in accordance with organizational policy and regulatory standards.
  • Encourages APP engagement and fosters a collaborative working environment between APPs and other members of the clinic team.
  • Performs clinical peer reviews of assigned APPs. Completes APP performance reviews by integrating clinical and administrative feedback for this purpose.
  • Partners with the Population Health Team for quality improvement initiatives.
  • Attends and participates in department and administrative meetings as an advocate, representative, and liaison for the assigned APPs.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area. Knowledgeable of growth and development for all patient/family cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age specific needs. Able to effectively communicate and care for patient and family as reflected in the Plan for Provision of Care.
