Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in earth sciences, environmental/chemical/geological engineering or similar programs.
- 15+ years of consulting experience at an environmental consulting firm with strong experience in the applicable environmental laws and regulations including O.Reg. 153/01, O.Reg. 406/19 within the Ontario Environmental Protection Act.
- 5+ years managing teams of 10 or more staff, demonstrated ability to lead and grow an environmental consulting team.
- Experience working with diverse multidisciplinary and/or international project teams.
- Track record of delivering high quality work products.
- Strong project management acumen to deliver projects within schedule and budgets.
- Financially literate from a project management perspective.
- History of promoting a strong Health and Safety Culture.
- Strong external network including with perspective clients and the environmental consulting industry.
Responsibilities
- Operations management including staff recruitment, retention, workflow optimization, implementation of appropriate technologies, succession planning, approval of time and operating expenditures and other team leading functions.
- Work with team of functional managers to coach and mentor staff that include 40+ scientists and engineers that range from juniors (recent new graduates) to principals (20+ years of experience) to ensure staff are motivated in meeting their individual goals while meeting corporate goals of growth, project quality and timeliness, innovation and profitability.
- Develops goals and conducts performance reviews for direct reports, and supports functional managers in these activities for other staff.
- Provide technical leadership, support and project management related to ESAs, remediation design and excess soil planning, investigation and management.
- Overseeing ESA and remediation related projects.
- Tracking and maintaining budgets on environmental programs.
- Support infrastructure engineering teams in ESAs and excess soil planning.
- Assigns responsibility for executing project plans to key subordinates after careful assessment of how to utilize their qualifications and strengths.
- Negotiates changes to the scope of work with the client and key subcontractors.
- Develop and maintain client relationships in various industries.
- Primary point of contact with clients.
- Review of technical documents and reports.
- Support business development activities such as meeting with perspective clients, writing proposals, and promoting Parsons’ key technical strengths.

- High emotional IQ: cultivating a team-oriented knowledge sharing environment, recognizing stress points with individuals or groups of staff and making corrective actions, promoting social gatherings, and comfortable with having difficult conversations.
- Demonstrated ability to implement and maintain workflows that improved work efficiency, quality and costs.
- Knowledge of technologies (including databases, artificial intelligence, various software packages) that can potentially be employed to improve ESA and remediation deliverables.
- Experience with other environmental aspects of infrastructure projects such as hydrogeology assessments (EASR and PTTW applications), geotechnical, designated and hazardous substances surveys.
- Business Development attributes including networking to attract new clients and professional talent to our team.
