Operating Room Technician – GI Lab

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
• General knowledge of Medical/Surgical supplies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must possess excellent problem solving skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment and give direction as needed.

Responsibilities

• Able to assist the physician during the procedure.
• Able to set up room, excluding medications, for any procedure.
• Cleans and disinfects rooms between procedures.
• Safely handles and verifies specimens.
• Can transfer specimens to Pathology.
• Demonstrates and uses knowledge of safety measures.
• Pre-cleaning of scope at bedside and cleaning of scope after procedures.
• Leak tests scope after every procedure.
• Knows proper procedure for manually soaking scopes in high level disinfectant if needed.
• Can properly utilize the Endoscopic reprocessor(s).
• Keeps an accurate inventory of all supplies and equipment.
• Knows how to operate all equipment in the Procedure rooms.
• Establishes and maintains stock levels of supplies agreed upon by the Charge Nurse.
• Requires call.
