- Certified Nuclear Medicine Technology (CNMT) – Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
- Nuclear Medicine (2 Years)
Responsibilities
- Prepares stock solutions of radiopharmaceutical materials, calculates doses and administers doses under the direction of a physician.
- Calibrates equipment. Performs diagnostic studies on patients as prescribed by physician using scanners or scintillation cameras to detect radiation emitted and to produce image of organ on photographic film.
- Measures radioactivity, using Geiger counters, scalers and scintillation detectors.
- Administers therapeutic doses of radiopharmaceuticals under direction of physician.
- Follows radiation safety techniques in use and disposal of radioactive materials.
- Renders appropriate patient care. Explain test procedures and safety precautions to patients and assist them during procedures. Performs PET and other designated research studies in accordance with necessary study procedures so that studies are completed as designed.
- Coordinates and performs research procedures to provide identification, screening, recruitment of subjects, and conducting imaging studies and radionuclide therapeutic studies.
- Responsible for ensuring consistency in study procedures and techniques, and verifying study documentation.
- Serves as a resource to provide comprehensive information to clinical research staff by promoting a smooth operation, preparing regulatory compliance documents and interacting with other departments.
- May supervise other clinical staff.
