ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. To design, develop, test, and support Automation hosts & applications to fulfill business requirements
  2. Responsible to communicate with various department stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze and provide suitable solution by applying concept of scalability, flexibility, simple and standard. 
  3. Responsible to handle operation issues, perform root cause analysis, and apply preventive actions and measurements via IT solutions.
  4. Follow SDLC phases in software development, document and execute as per requirements and specifications
  5. Provide documentation and training to 24/7 L1 support team.
  6. Test and support deployment of new and/or enhanced automation hosts, interface to tools & multiple MES at both Wafer factories.
  7. Provide support for applications used in the factory operating in a 24/7 fast moving environment.

Candidates who will not require relocation to the San Jose, CA area will be prioritized in the recruiting process. 

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Requires Bachelor or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related major with graduation date between June 2024-June 2025.
  • Right to work in the US without requiring Western Digital to commence or sponsor an immigration case to employ you at any point in the future required (for example, H-1B or other employment-based immigration case).
  • This role may require periods of on-call, overnight work to support our 24/7 factory environment

SKILLS

Technical Skills:

  • The successful candidate must have experience in using C++, C#, as well as source control, object-oriented programming. Experience with the Microsoft Visual Studio development suite and debugging multi-tier architecture is preferred.
  • Knowledge of MS SQL and/or Oracle DB including queries, functions, and stored procedures.
  • Understanding of SECS/GEM protocol and/or other industrial automation standards is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of structured/iterative code development and documentation, and the communications and collaboration with offshore code development team that goes with it
  • Exposure to or experience in leveraging ML and AI technologies to support the image analysis, edge computing, and augmented support solutions coming down the road.

  • Written communication skills: The successful candidate must be able to write clear requirements documents, design documents, test plans and end-user documentation.
  • Verbal communication skills: The successful candidate must be able to present requirements, designs, test plans and status to peers and management.
