Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 years of experience with network routing protocols, design and troubleshooting, with network equipment providers.
- Experience in one or more programming languages such as C++, Go, or Python.
Responsibilities
- Automate the life-cycle of Google’s global core network repair to reduce the Mean Time To Repair (MTTR), human error, and operational cost.
- Partner with software engineering teams to innovate and deliver repair-focused software systems and services.
- Build and leverage repair automation infrastructures from partner software engineering teams to complement and consolidate the network repair automation stack.
- Provide consultation on setting requirements and defining the design of software applications related to repairing the network.
- Support and maintain software services. Operationalize new core network technologies so they can be introduced to production for Google to take advantage of next-generation features.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in conducting statistical analysis of network hardware and incidents for the purpose of creating continual service improvement plans.
- Experience in creating requirement and design documents for software services and frameworks.
- Experience in planning and designing networks (e.g., multiple sites, multiple products).
- Experience in developing and maintaining software services, tools, and automation frameworks that programmatically analyze and troubleshoot global-scale core networks (e.g., IP and optical networks) and their supporting systems.
- Ability to analyze business processes and create data-driven recommendations for improvement.
- Ability to write SQL scripts and query data structures to retrieve network and process diagnostic information.
