Requirements
- Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant or completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as an APRN
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Responsibilities
- Provides direct care to patients through comprehensive history taking and physical examinations
- Evaluates and treats patients based on diagnostic test results
- Performs therapeutic procedures such as arterial line placement, central line placement, and intubation
- Initiates referrals to other healthcare providers and consults with attending or collaborating physicians
- Documents and bills for direct care provided
- Utilizes current research and evidence-based decision-making in clinical practice
- Participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research
- Demonstrates responsibility for professional practice through active participation in professional organizations and continuing education
- Potential to precept students at MUSC enrolled as an advanced practice provider student
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred Training: Physician Assistant or APRN with AGACNP/ACNP certification
- Preferred Experience: 2+ years NP experience or PA-C experience, Acute Care training and/or cardiology experience
