Requirements

  • High School Diploma or associated Certification (GED)
  • Typically requires two years of Mortgage Lending or equivalent experience, such as Consumer Lending or Retail Banking
  • Comply with SAFE Act legislation, which requires annual registration as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO)

Responsibilities

  • Support Loan Application Completion: Collect loan data, complete or review mortgage applications on behalf of the Sr. Mortgage Advisor, and follow up with applicants to gather any missing information.
  • Verify Sales Contracts: Analyze real estate purchase and sale agreements to ensure all required details are present and meet lending guidelines.
  • Assist with Loan Conditions: Review approval notices and outstanding conditions; assist members in gathering and submitting necessary documentation to meet deadlines.
  • Create Marketing Materials: Design and organize sales and marketing content and supplies to support Sr. Mortgage Advisor’s outreach and visibility.
  • Support Events & Community Presence: Help prepare for and occasionally attend first-time homebuyer seminars or local events to promote BECU’s mortgage services.
  • Expand Referral Network: Partner with the Sr. Mortgage Advisor in relationship building and outreach to grow referral opportunities and strengthen community connections.
  • Maintain Compliance & Accuracy: Monitor daily reports to ensure application compliance, accurate pricing, and complete pipeline reporting.
  • Manage Pipeline Support Tasks: Order required documentation for submission such as verifications (employment, deposit, rent), tax transcripts, FHA Case Numbers, and VA Certificates of Eligibility.
  • Resolve Loan Process Issues: Collaborate with Fulfillment and Underwriting to investigate and resolve loan origination challenges, ensuring smooth progress for our members.
  • Be a Trusted Partner: Deliver exceptional service through proactive communication, problem-solving, and a member-first mindset in every task.
  • Adapt & Contribute: Perform additional responsibilities as assigned, staying flexible and responsive to team and business needs.
  • Team Support: Provide general administrative support to assigned sales team as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting a high producing loan officer and/or team of loans officers.
  • Proficient relationship management, problem resolution, and customer service skills.
  • Proficient at analyzing income documentation to qualify applicants within loan parameters.
  • Proficient organizational skills.
  • Proficient verbal and written skills to effectively communicate.
  • Desk location in team territory location as directed by manager. Ability to travel to offices in region.
