Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Healthcare Management, Business or related field, or equivalent
• 3 years of relevant experience managing an environmental services function in the health care industry
• Experience working in an organization of size and complexity comparable to Spectrum Health

Responsibilities

• Manages those who schedule, assign and distribute work among department employees
• Establishes and communicates appropriate quality standards for designated services and programs
• Implements procedures for measuring quality standards
• Inspects and evaluates physical condition of hospital
• Recommends painting, repairs, furnishing, relocation of equipment
• Conducts research to improve environmental services technology
• Investigates and evaluates new housekeeping supplies and equipment
• Makes recommendations based on findings
• Develops, evaluates, implements, and revises policies and procedures for department that maximize the control and prevention of infections
• Arranges for supply of housekeeping material, equipment and related items necessary to permit the proper performance of housekeeping services
• Manages the activities of professional and support employees who are engaged in providing for a hospital environment that is sanitary, attractive, safe and orderly
• Facilitates the training and continuing education of employees
• Provides direction and support to subordinate employees to ensure effectiveness and efficiency
• Selects, trains, develops, and evaluates subordinates and initiates personnel actions in accordance with departmental policies and organization philosophy
• Develops, implements, and maintains departmental annual operating budgets, ensuring that operations are managed within established guidelines
