Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
- Five years nursing experience
- Current South Carolina licensure or licensure in a compact state as a registered nurse
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and facilitate entry of patients being evaluated for bariatric surgery into the MUSC system
- Develop an in-depth interdisciplinary plan of care
- Coordinate clinical care for bariatric surgery patients to maximize billable provider time
- Increase conversion rate from interest to surgery
- Reduce unnecessary hospital readmissions, reoperations, and interventions through increased patient education
- Ensure ongoing compliance with Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Nursing, Business, Health administration or a relevant field preferred
- Certified Bariatric Nurse (CBN) preferred
- Certification as a generalist in a related specialty area by the American Nurses Association (ANA) preferred
