Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or relevant medical or scientific discipline for both MT I and MT II
- Certification as a Medical Technologist by ASCP BOC or equivalent or relevant specialty lab certification for both MT I and MT II
- Primary source verification of successful completion is required and will be performed by MUHA Human Resources for both MT I and MT II
- New employees must obtain certification within the first year of employment for MT I
- Current MLT employees must complete the ASCP MLS registry for job reclassification from MLT to MT for both MT I and MT II
- Less than one year of clinical experience for MT I
- More than one year of clinical experience for MT II
Responsibilities
- Prepare specimens for testing
- Perform routine laboratory tests
- Perform specialized laboratory tests
- Perform quality control
- Troubleshoot quality control errors and maintenance procedures
- Recognize and evaluate computer data problems
- Troubleshoot laboratory instruments
- Perform preventative maintenance
- Communicate technical information to medical and lay persons
- Assist with training laboratory personnel in routine procedures
- Participate in continuing education
- Recognize normal and abnormal values
- Model Standards of Behavior in daily interactions and activities
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Degree or Equivalent
- 3 years of work experience
- State licensure and/or professional certification requirements dependent on position
