Requirements
- Heartsaver AED certification required
- Completion of a Medical Assistant training program or proof of training under a licensed physician
- Prefer bilingual in Spanish for Rural Health Clinics and GME-Family Medicine Center
- Successful completion of the Language Resource Assistant (LRA) test at a Clinical level when testing is required
- Prefer 1-2 years of experience for SRCC
Responsibilities
- Prepares exam rooms for patient visit
- Stocks and orders supplies as needed
- Arranges for sterilization of instruments and ensures equipment is clean and in good repair
- Escorts patients to exam rooms and may take and record vital signs
- Assists care givers with procedures and treatments as directed
- May perform, label, and record venipuncture and capillary puncture according to written procedures
- Labels and maintains proper storage for specimens and tests
- Enters appropriate information into medical record, adhering to medical record guidelines
- May monitor and record quality checks for lab tests and equipment
- Uses department computer systems to enter and obtain information/documentation
- Maintains quality control and participates in performance improvement projects
- Provides instructions to patient as required
- Schedules patients for testing procedures
- Conducts all aspects of patient problem follow-up in coordination with the medical provider
- Answers telephone, refers calls, makes appointments, and provides appropriate information and referrals
- May be assigned to transport patients
Preferred Qualifications
