Requirements
- Degree in mechanical engineering or related field and 2+ years of industry experience in mechanical design
- Proficiency in 3D CAD and 2D drafting using SolidWorks or a similar program
- Strong heat transfer, fluid dynamics and mechanics fundamentals
- Experience with a variety of fabrication techniques and manufacturing processes (sheet metal and plastics is a plus)
- Well-developed communication, collaboration, and engagement skills
- Aptitude for hands-on engineering and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of first-principles modeling and design and optimizing for manufacturing and cost-down
Responsibilities
- Design and prototyping of mechanical & electro-mechanical components for performance & functional requirements, optimizing for manufacturability, performance, material weight, and cost
- Lead critical vendor engagements and collaborate with manufacturing engineers to transition system designs from prototype to high-volume production
- Collaborate with the Cell Design and Enclosure Design teams to co-develop interface designs
- Perform compliance studies and testing for purchased components
- Participate in component integration events, fabricating and testing first-of-a-kind prototypes to validate system design choices
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with FEA, CFD is a plus
- Experience in product development within an early-stage environment and experience in energy storage, battery systems, renewable energy, or related industry is a plus
