Requirements

• Bachelor/Masters in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 7 years of design experience
• Mechanical Engineer with experience in New product design and development
• Hands-on working experience in product areas like automotive, sensors (IMUs) etc.
• Working experience in design and development of plastic, die-cast and sheet metal components/assemblies
• Experience with product design and development starting from research until warranty/end of life
• Ability to perform tear down & benchmark studies
• Exposure to Mechanical digital simulations methods & tools (Moldflow, Structural, Thermal)
• Experience with customer, supplier, validation, testing team coordination and interactions
• Experience in Change Management (product life cycle management)
• Experience in using DFMEA to identify risk and systematic risk mitigation

Responsibilities

• Develop concept and architecture designs based on product requirements
• Understand product level requirements and create/manage mechanical requirements
• Define and manage Mechanical BOM for products
• Prototype design creation, collaborating with purchasing/suppliers for part development
• Develop mechanical design from concept to large volume manufacturing
• Identify Mechanical Special Product Characteristics (KCs)
• Conduct Mechanical DFMEA, mitigate risks, and report findings
• Prepare Mechanical verification plans for product performance
• Perform Mechanical verification tests, ensure compliance, and meet requirements
• Coordinate cross-functional teams, manage project deliverables, and conduct reviews

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant experience working with sensor mechanical design
• 3D CAD experience-PTC Creo preferred
• Experience with troubleshooting mechanical failures in bolted joints, moisture ingress through seals and gaskets, part and feature premature wear
• Matlab experience helpful
• Prior experience designing products for functional safety
