Mechanical Design Technician

Requirements

• A two-year technical Associate Degree in Mechanical Design Technology, Electro-Mechanical Technology, Machine Design, or other technical area of specialization or equivalent engineering experience and more than 1 year of experience
• Proficient at designing in Solid Works and AutoCAD
• Demonstrated competency in the use of engineering systems/tools
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to interact with customers, cross functional team members, and outside suppliers
• Ability to apply engineering principles, standards, and procedures in the execution of projects and programs to advance process innovation
• Demonstrated ability to accomplish tasks independently, while functioning in a team environment, to complete projects within required timeframe and budget
• Accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical design and detailing in support of team/ business objectives
• Layout of manufacturing and supporting processes
• Participate in equipment/ process checkouts and/ or machine start-ups to validate machine designs
• Ability to recognize, define, and resolve technical problems
• Provide application of engineering standards and procedures
• Continue development of knowledge and skills to be recognized as a designer and developer
• Carry out job responsibilities in a safe manner. Design equipment and processes that meet safety codes, policies, and guidelines. Provide for the safety and well­being of operators, maintenance, and other personnel
• Maintain security and documentation to ensure retrieval of data and protection of proprietary information
• Travel up to 15%
